Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 back at the FCC

Engadget has posted an update to the status of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 at the FCC. It seems that the phone was back at the FCC for approval, this time with AT&T’s 3G bands.

I wrote about the initial run at the FCC here. On that post I was disappointed that it appeared T-Mobile would be able to get the phone, and not AT&T. I am very happy about this change of events. Even though the earlier reports looked good for AT&T, there is nothing like a trip to the FCC for approval to raise one’s hopes.

Now that we know the X10 will be usable on AT&T, two questions remain: Is it coming out any time soon? Which carrier will subsidize the phone? I am hoping that the respective answers are “yes” and “AT&T”. It would be a good idea for AT&T to get a new smart phone. The X10 is a great candidate. I’ll be following the X10 closely, and will post updates as things unfold.
