Piling On: Advertising at iPhone’s Expense

As you know by now, and as I’ve written about here, the iPhone 4 has a lot of issues. While Steve Jobs and the rest of Apple is wearing blinders, other firms are jumping at the chance to take Apple down a peg or two. Some of these attempts are intentionally humorous, and others simply take a pot shot and leave it at that.

Nokia was among those with a funny jab. The pic below shows the various ways you can hold your Nokia phone.

Motorola went a little more aggressive with its Droid ad in The New York Times.

“And most importantly, it comes with a double antenna design. The kind that allows you to hold the phone any way you’d like and use it just about anywhere to make crystal clear calls.”

Apple has certainly made itself an easy target. The ads are usually at least somewhat funny, which helps lessen the sting a bit as they jab Apple. Apple really needs to address the issues some other way than “Don’t hold it that way” though. At least the bystanders will be amused by these ads until it does though. Maybe Apple should hold off just a bit longer.
