Samsung Epic 4G Now Available

The Samsung Epic 4G is now on sale at Sprint. It joins the Captivate and Vibrant in the Galaxy S lineup.

Here are the specs:

  • Android 2.1
  • 4″ Super AMOLED touchscreen
  • 1 GHz processor
  • Slide-out QWERTY keyboard, plus virtual keyboard with Swype
  • Dual-mode 3G/4G device
  • WiFi – 802.11 b/g/n
  • Dual cameras, 5MP main camera plus VGA front-facing camera
  • Mobile Hotspot capable
  • Combined IM, MMS and SMS messaging
  • Integrated contacts from multiple sources
  • Linked Contacts and Layered Calendar
  • Chat-style messaging
  • Sprint TV
  • GPS Navigation
  • Bluetooth
  • Memory Expandable to 32GB

With the slideout QWERTY, this is easily my favorite of the Galaxy S lineup. Add the 4G capabilities and Sprint pulled off a nice little package. The device certainly has a lot of perks, but is stuck with a 5MP camera. One would think a stunning display and a large resolution camera go hand in hand, but evidently not. The iPhone 4, Galaxy S, and a number of other impressive phones are hindered by an inadequate camera.

If I were a Sprint fan I’d definitely take a look at the Epic 4G. If you live on the West Coast, you already have access to the web store, though it officially goes on sale tomorrow. You can pick up the Epic 4G for $250 after $150 instant rebate and $100 mail-in rebate plus a 2-year contract. If you are patient though you can get it on Wirefly or Amazon for less. I’d look for it on sale in these alternative locations to make sure you get the best deal possible.
