The Mos Eisley Cantina Comes to PlayStation Home

In celebration of the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back, PlayStation Home is featuring the Mos Eisley Cantina. Star Wars fans might find this move a little odd since the cantina is featured in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Then again, it is a Star Wars locale on PlayStation Home, so I doubt there is much complaining.

PlayStation Home is also featuring new Star Wars items in the LucasArts store, including Chewbacca, C3PO, and Princess Leia costumes. I checked out the LucasArts store a while back. There were some Jedi and Stormtrooper costumes, a Yoda fountain, lightsabers, and a few other trinkets. At the time it wouldn’t let me purchase something in the cart twice, so I ended up abandoning the purchase since I didn’t know which item screwed up the order. I am hoping that bug got resolved. I assumed at the time that there was a pre-sale for PlayStation Plus owners.

In addition to the Mos Eisley Cantina, PlayStation Home is also hosting a scavenger hunt for an exclusive item. If you wander around the Central Plaza for the next few weeks you can find portions of a secret voucher code. The first 10,000 users to find and redeem the voucher will get a furniture item from The Empire Strikes Back for their personal space. This item won’t be available for sale, so be sure to check in if you want it.

Sony has done some pretty interesting things with PlayStation Home this year, including a model of it’s booth at E3. It will be interesting to see what comes next.
