Sony Launches Movie Channel

Sunday, October 24th, 2010

Sony gathered up more than 3,500 Sony Pictures films and created a new television channel. 184 of these have received Academy Awards, including 12 for Best Picture. Not a bad starting lineup.

The Sony Movie Channel is offered on DISH Network, DIRECTV and AT&T U-verse TV, as part of their HD lineup. Where can you find it? On DISH Network, it is on channel 386 and is available in the HD Platinum package. DISH is offering a free month preview which started on October 18. On DIRECTV you can find it on channel 563 and is part of the HD Xtra Pack. AT&T U-verse customers can find Sony Movie Channel on channel 1791, as part of the HD Premium tiers. Want to watch it online instead? You can watch it on DishOnline.com. It is also available as Video on Demand (VOD) for DISH Network HD Platinum customers.

Sony put together a brief introductory video to announce the channel. Check it out below.

I am a DISH Network subscriber so I have been trying out the free preview this weekend. There are a lot of movies I watched as a kid currently on, and I am looking forward to seeing what else is available. If you are using DISH Network, DIRECTV, or AT&T U-verse be sure to check it out.
