iPad Jailbroken

Sunday, April 4th, 2010

So, you’ve just dropped $500 on a new iPad, and you are thinking about all the things you can do with it. “I know”, you think, “I’ll turn this into a brick right out the door.” CrunchGear reported today that the iPad is already jailbroken.

My first question regarding jailbreaking any Apple product is, “Why?” If a device doesn’t do what you want it to do, wouldn’t it be easier (and cheaper) to just purchase the competitor’s product? For the average techie, perhaps jailbreaking isn’t as big a risk. For the majority of Apple’s customers, jailbreaking is a quick way to drop $500 for no apparent reason. If you are thinking of jailbreaking your iPad and you have no idea what jailbreaking is, I would caution you against it. I know I might be in the minority here, but I don’t think the benefits are worth the risk. Just my thoughts.
