Sony Ericsson

I was browsing Sony Style looking for accessories for my new Xperia X10 and came across this Sony Ericsson Bluetooth Watch (MBW-150EXEC). I wasn’t in the market for a watch, but this looks pretty nice.

“Handle calls discreetly via this handsome, stainless steel Sony Ericsson Bluetooth Executive Edition watch and control music and volume with the touch of a button.”
Sony Style

You can pair the watch with your Bluetooth headset and it allows you to check your Caller ID without groping for your phone. This can be convenient when sitting in a meeting, or even in a movie theater. The watch vibrates when a call comes in and displays the ID of your caller. You can mute the call with a button on the watch. It also works for text messages.

You can control your music from across the room in the same way, navigating from song to song on the watch itself. It can also help you keep track of your phone’s location. When the watch is out of range of your phone it vibrates, letting you know you have left your phone behind.

Another feature is secure auto-pairing with your phone. You set the devices next to each other and let them connect automatically. You get a confirmation in the phone’s menu, and can manage the connection there. As an added bonus, the watch is water resistant up to 30 meters.

Here are the specs:

  • OLED display shows caller ID, music track information
  • Water Resistant up to 30 meters
  • Bluetooth range: Up to 10 meters
  • Battery Life: Using Bluetooth – up to a week. Watch only – up to 2 weeks

The watch comes with a charger, charging kit, and a special watch box. Reviews have been mostly good, though the battery issue is a frequent problem, at least on earlier models. Most of what I read was about a different model, so it is possible the battery life has been improved.

I think this watch could be a good addition to one’s business attire. At $450, I would hope that it came with a headset, but it doesn’t. It is currently on sale for $300, but it is out of stock on the site. You can read more about this watch at Sony Style.
