Kinect for Xbox 360

When Star Wars: The Force Unleashed came out on the Wii, it was a Star Wars nerd’s dream. It was released about the time I got my Wii. I was so stoked to be able to “use the Force” with the Wii Nunchuck, where I could do a Force push by actually pushing my arm out toward the TV. Today, Microsoft took that to a whole new level. Enter the as-yet-unnamed Star Wars game for Kinect. See the video below to see why I am really excited about it.

See? Pretty cool, isn’t it? With no controller, this really is the closest I’ll come anytime soon to doing a real Force push. I know all you Star Wars geeks are with me on this one, so I feel very comfortable embracing my inner nerd here.

Needless to say, I will be watching for this release very closely and will be discussing it here as it develops.

New Trailer for The Force Unleashed II

Monday, June 14th, 2010 has a new video of the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II game coming out this Fall. It is another teaser trailer, and is among the first gems from this year’s E3. Here is the video. I am sure we’ll be hearing more about this game this week, so stay tuned.

Microsoft: Project Natal is now the Kinect

Kinect for Xbox 360

With the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) coming this week, Microsoft announced the official name for Project Natal. The official name is Kinect for Xbox 360. A rather long name, it will likely be shortened to Kinect.

Microsoft is pretty proud of its release event.

“Creating and producing this customized experience for
Microsoft took four months of preparation work for the
creation team and required 76 artists and no less than
200 technicians. The magnitude of the event is greater
than any other taken on by Cirque du Soleil Events.”

— Martin Dignard, Production Director

To hear a more amusing, and probably more realistic analysis of the event, check out what TechCrunch had to say about it. It is a long read, but as I said, more amusing than Microsoft’s version.

So, there we have it. Kinect for Xbox 360 will likely be covered quite a bit in the upcoming weeks, and especially at E3. As more develops it will be covered here.
